belly. ("we", "us", "the app") is operated by Ryan Thomas, based in the United Kingdom. This policy explains what data belly. collects, why, and what you can do about it.

belly. is not a medical app and does not provide medical advice — see our Terms & Conditions for details.

What we collect

• Account info: your email address and password, used to sign you in (handled by Firebase Authentication; we never see or store your raw password).
• Meal and check-in logs: food entries, portions, timestamps, and symptom/check-in data you record in the app.
• Photos: if you use the camera to scan a meal or a nutrition label, that photo is processed to extract food/nutrition information (see "AI processing" below). Photos are not stored permanently by us beyond what's needed to generate your log entry.
• Dietary settings: intolerances and preferences you set in the app.
• Usage/cost records: a record of your AI feature usage tied to your email address, used solely to enforce a monthly usage cap and prevent abuse.

We do not collect location data, contacts, or device identifiers, and we do not use advertising or analytics tracking SDKs.

AI processing

Some features (meal photo scanning, nutrition label scanning, AI-assisted food search, and pattern insights) send the relevant photo or text to Anthropic (maker of the Claude AI models) for processing, via our own server-side proxy — Anthropic never receives your email, password, or account identity, only the specific photo or text needed to answer that request. This processing is subject to Anthropic's own privacy and data-use terms, available at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.

Where your data is stored

Your account and log data are stored using Google Firebase/Firestore. This may involve your data being processed or stored outside the UK, including in the United States, under Google's standard data-processing safeguards.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. To do so, contact us at hello@bellyapp.co.uk and we will respond within one month.

You can also, at any time from Settings, delete your account — this permanently removes your meal logs, check-ins, and account profile, and deletes your sign-in credentials. A separate internal usage-cap record tied to your email may be retained briefly for billing-abuse-prevention purposes; contact us at the address above to have this removed too.

You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you believe your data has been mishandled.

Age requirement

belly. is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
